On August 29, 2024, the opening event of the EKA entrepreneurship platform LAETUS for the new academic season took place in the EKA Gallery.
The organizer, Faculty of Design of EKA, invited and started cooperation with 7 companies and organizations. Eesti Pank, Granitop OÜ, Hiieko AS, Sydney Estonian House (Sydney Eesti Maja), Tallinn Strategy Center, Elering AS and Integration Foundation were represented.
The LAETUS program helps entrepreneurs and other partners to create practical and innovative solutions. The best-known example is the world-famous Huumi sauna heater, which was created in cooperation between Huumi and EKA students. A recent example is the “Youth Center of the Year 2023” recognition, modeled in cooperation with the municipality of Toila, a mobile youth center built in a sea container.
The Laetus program solves various challenges of organizations, which concern both a more far-reaching view of the future and the redesign of existing products and services. Laetus functions as an innovation laboratory, where, based on the partner’s topics, the possibilities arising from sustainability and new technologies, the analysis of user experience and identity, the development of conceptual solutions, etc., are carried out without harming the daily work of the organization. The program brings new excitement and fresh thinking to any organization.
At LAETUS, we apply new generation design, use a creative approach, take into account the principles of sustainability and human friendliness, but we also keep in mind that the solutions we create are commercially successful and go hand in hand with new technologies.
Students who work with LAETUS partners learn to become professional designers under experienced instructors.
The program functions as an innovation laboratory where ideas are developed and solutions are offered. Together we consider needs, analyze user experiences, conduct identity analysis, work through idea solutions and much more.
