EKA continues to leave its mark on EU funded Baltic Region Interreg project on Liveable Cities.
On 5 and 6 September 2024, EKA representatives Ruth-Helene Melioranski, dean of Design Faculty and Jörn Frenzel, professor in Service design, participated in the Liveability partners meeting in Copenhagen.
The meeting focused on Copenhagen’s local views and perspectives on Liveability and community-based public service and urban development. The diverse voices of urbanism experts Trevor Davies and human-centred urban design advocate Jan Gehl were complemented by Claus Hovmøller Jensen from Refshaleøen Development Agency and Bettina Werner from Courban Design Collective. The discussions were punctuated by a series of tours through the city’s different developments and strata.
On the first day, we were focused on developing a training programme for city representatives, combining the Liveability Charter (theory and principles) and the Practice Guide (supporting implementers in on-site testing of infrastructure and/or services) into a comprehensive development material for cities wishing to join the Liveability network.
The Liveability project will finalise several work packages by the end of this year; the EKA working group will support the development of the training programme, the corporate identity and the Liveable Cities Network & Label. Partner cities have been piloting the project’s different components and are now engaging new partner cities, called twinning; attracting newcomers, engaging and explaining the project and expanding the network.
