The heat energy costs of the Estonian Academy of Arts have increased several times in December, and the EKA energy supplier Utilitas will increase the price of MWh again by 17% from 1 February. In this connection, the Rectorate has decided that the heating temperature of the  building will be reduced by one degree from tomorrow, January 25.

Johanna Vahtra, an environmental specialist at EKA, calculated that lowering it by 1 degree in February would save 4,500 euros and about 40 MWh per month. In addition to money, the EKA also saves the environment by reducing the temperature, as the estimated savings in our footprint are 2.8 tonnes of CO2 per month. For comparison, the average Estonian’s CO2 footprint is 14 tons per year.

The initiative was initiated by Andres Tammsaar, CFO of EKA.
