The Estonian Academy of Arts, located in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is a vibrant academic and research institution, recognized as the leading national center for innovation in visual culture. EKA plays a pivotal role in shaping the regional cultural space and contributing to a more sustainable living environment. EKA is ranked among Top 150 Art and Design Universities in the World by QS World University Rankings (2024).

Twelve hundred students currently enrolled at EKA are taught by nearly three hundred professors, associate professors, lecturers and workshop managers from Estonia and abroad. Small groups of carefully selected students enable a more personal, one-on-one approach to instruction and family-like, close-knit atmosphere. EKA prides itself on its low student-to-faculty ratio.

Studies take place in new award-winning buildings with an innovative and inspiring environment, providing modern learning environment that supports creativity. Students are encouraged to make use of the various facilities at EKA, including professional photography and sound studios, workshops for wood- and metalworking, 3D modelling, textile, glass, ceramics, printmaking, and many more.

The international Master’s programmes are designed for artists and designers aiming to develop and enrich their individual practice through cross-disciplinary investigations. EKA encourages bold experimentation, and students are able to take courses and workshops beyond their specializations. The curricula are constructed in such a way as to cultivate students’ analytical abilities and critical thinking, fostering environmentally and socially conscientious creators.

During their studies, many EKA students participate in exchange programmes at international partner universities. EKA cooperates with more than 150 universities around the world and belongs to several international higher education networks. EKA is an active partner in the Nordic/Baltic area, cooperating with the best design schools in the area through Nordic collaboration networks CIRRUS and KUNO. The cooperation involves student workshops, student and teacher exchange, summer schools, cooperation with companies, and intensive courses.
