Last week, the ARS Art Factory hosted the Erasmus BIP workshop “Sonic Greenhouse,” where participants explored how speculative design and interactive sound art tools (Playtronica, TouchMe, Biotron) can be used to create experimental artistic environments.
The workshop was attended by 18 students from four partner schools: Aalto University (8 students), Vilnius Academy of Arts (6 students), the Department of New Media at the Estonian Academy of Arts (3 students), and Konstfack – University of Arts, Crafts and Design (1 student).
The workshop invited students to a winter greenhouse at ARS, where they participated in discussions on topics such as plants, gardens, forests, and food. At the same time, the participants had the opportunity to experiment and develop these themes in an interdisciplinary and creatively sound art-focused manner. A key focus was the application of touch-sensitive technologies to create interactions between plants and humans.
Participants: Nicolas Fadda, Milda Trimakaité, Ruta Grumadaite, Hasan Alp Celikel, Malak Mayramli, Emilija Zakarauskaité, Jon Nicklas Lundberg, Ana Todosijevic, Ariana Marta, Xinchen Liu, Mengqiao Liu, Maisa Immonen, Sten Heijster, Yushan Han, Xuedan Gao, Yiyang Sun, Liisi Kõuhkna, Trevor Kinna.

The workshop was supported by the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program, the Estonian Academy of Arts, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and the New Media Department.
