Jewellery and Blacksmithing
“Broken Forests” tells a story about the before and after of a deadly wildfire in Pedrogão Grande. It analyses the relation to land which seems to have started acting dangerously and unpredictably. The work is an answer to a trauma that comes from living on the Anthropocene post-apocalyptic landscape. It expresses worry, love and fear for a place which has been changed by eucalyptus plantations.
The works are casted into the first harvest of cork from Quercus Suber aka cork oak. Quercus Suber, unlike the introduced eucalyptus is native to Portugal and is one of the most resilient trees to the fire thanks to its bark. The hot melted metal puts the cork to yet another test.
The works presented here are the continuation of a graduation project in the Estonian Academy of Arts.

The exhibition pieces have been produced during a two week workshop with Tobias Birgersson.
The opening will take place on 21. October, at 6PM by the Staircase gallery (Trepigalerii).
The exhibition will be open from 21/10 to 27/10.

Lauren Kacher’s Open Lecture “Metareality”
Accessory Design
EKA Design Faculty, Open Lecture
Lauren Kacher. METAREALITY: Creating Identity in Digital, Augmented, and Physical Spaces
EKA assembly hall A-101, 06.10 Thursday, 6pm
The open lecture is in english
Fashion is in the midst of a revolution. From analogue to digitally-infused, we will soon be creating interoperable identities across three spaces; the physical, augmented, and digital metaverse. Key tools including blockchain, 3D, and NFTs can empower the creative and retail process like never before to form an industry that is accessible, sustainable, and innovative. METARALITY is a simple equation to define the intersection of these three worlds and how products can be made according to the benefits and constraints of each space. But what are those spaces, what is possible to create, and how do we wear it?
Lauren (KALAU) Kacher is a phygital fashion pioneer, design consultant and creative director. Since 2012, Lauren has worked in New York, London, and Paris at top luxury houses including Saint Laurent, and Loewe.
She founded Alterrage in 2021, the first DAO-led fashion label to leverage blockchain technology to create interoperable collections across physical, augmented, and digital spaces with a mission to use technology to inspire real world activism.
Lauren also works as a creative director and consultant to guide brands to create authentic digital collections with metaverse, AR, and phygital wearability. She is leading creative direction at the Metaverse Fashion Council and building the Paris based Web3 fashion industry.

Pilvi Tammoja and Erinn M. Cox at the Tartu Art House
Jewellery and Blacksmithing
Pilvi Tammoja and Erinn M. Cox with their joint exhibition “That Girl” in the small gallery of Tartu Art House.
The artists present contemporary jewellery pieces that depict, deny, define, and distort the images we hold of ourselves as women.
The works are inspired by our vulnerabilities, our strengths, our fears, and our desires — whether they are real or imagined. They are thinking about that girl: who you may know, who you might also be.
Tammoja and Cox add: “In the dark, it’s all a trick. And nobody knows. We are in the moment, in the moments. Our eyes throw a glance, we make you laugh, we are provocative, we dance, we drink. We pretend to have fun. We break our own hearts. And we do it again and again.”
Pilvi Tammoja (b. 1991) is an interdisciplinary artist from Estonia based in Tallinn. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in fashion design and a Master’s degree in Jewellery which provides her a unique understanding of forms and the body, resulting in diverse works made with an ever-changing range of materials from silk thread to cast iron. She has exhibited her work in group exhibitions and fashion shows; and has also worked on window displays, photo set designs and prop design & fabrication.
Erinn M. Cox (b. 1976) is a jewellery artist from the United States based in Tallinn, Estonia. She holds BFA and MFA degrees in sculpture and a MA degree in Jewellery. Erinn has exhibited her work in the US and internationally, highlighted by her selection for Schmuck 2018 & 2020, SOFA CHICAGO, and the 21grams touring exhibition. She was awarded the Galerie Marzee Graduate Prize and named an upcoming design star by Wallpaper* Magazine. As well, Erinn is an adjunct professor of Fine Arts and Art History in the US and a guest lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts. She is a published author on topics related to contemporary art + design, jewellery, and philosophy and is the founder and writer for the online journal Louise & Maurice (www.louiseandmaurice.com)
