From April 2–4, leaders of the Nordic–Baltic design education network CIRRUS will gather at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) to jointly explore the challenges of academic leadership and share experiences in a rapidly changing higher education environment.
This year’s meeting centers on the theme “Riding the Emotional Tide”, focusing on how collective emotions influence decision-making, shape institutional culture, and guide the leader’s role within these processes. “We are delighted to once again bring together the key figures of design education, both from Estonia and our neighboring countries. It’s a unique opportunity to exchange experiences, review our common challenges, and discover fresh approaches to managing emotions,” said Ruth Melioranski, Chair of CIRRUS.
Over the course of three days, presentations, discussions, and workshops will examine the role of emotions in academic leadership—ranging from student engagement to the shaping of institutional strategies. One of the event’s goals is to foster cross-border collaboration in further developing design education in the Nordic and Baltic region. We eagerly look forward to these discussions and to meeting in springtime Tallinn, which will also provide valuable input for EKA’s new development plan.
