The ELIA European Network of Creative Universities’ meeting was held, focusing on the keyword “artistic intelligence”.
Dozens of parallel ELIA sessions and presentations took place, all of which explored how artists contribute to society and what challenges may arise in this regard. EKA art historian Maarin Ektermann gave a presentation “Guests? Intruders? Good actors? Challenges of bringing artists into dialogue with heritage and communities”, which should be the conclusion of the seven year project “Artists in collections (collectives and communities)”.
Sandra-Leena Mell, Head of International Relations Office of EKA: “There was also a meeting of the ELIA/PIE working group on external relations, where eighty colleagues from around the world discussed international focal points.”
ELIA brings together 237 art universities around the world, where art, design, architecture, music, theatre, dance and film are taught. In addition to the conference, the consortium regularly organises school principals’ symposia, a faculty academy. The working groups for creative research and creative doctoral studies, art pedagogy and the working group for sustainable careers of faculty are active.
From Estonia, the ELIA association includes the Estonian Academy of Arts, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Viljandi Academy of Culture of the University of Tartu.
