Estonian Language Crash Course for New International Students Returns to EKA

Estonian Language Course in EKA

TALLINN, August 14, 2023 – Estonian Academy of Arts is once again proud to announce the commencement of the Estonian language course, starting August 14. This second iteration welcomes 61 enthusiastic foreign students, including both degree and exchange students.

Running until August 30, the course will immerse students deeply in both the Estonian language and the rich tapestry of Estonian cultural history. EKA’s Ukrainian students will also be in attendance. This is a significant expansion from the program’s predecessor which began in 2007 already, designed primarily for up to sixteen ERASMUS students under the banner of EILC and later, ESTILC.

Marilyn Riisimäe, the driving force behind the program, expressed her delight, “It’s incredibly rewarding to organize this course again and witness the eagerness of so many students from around the world.”

For the purpose of language instruction, students are divided into four distinct groups. These groups are in the capable hands of  language teachers Anu Kihulane, Eiemari Shanin, Sandra Sainio, and Ruta Bergman.

This ambitious program has been made possible through funding from the ERASMUS program and the consortium of European universities, Transform4Europe.
