At the Faculty of Architecture’s traditional Long Table Party on 20 December, the first “Study and Shine!” scholarships were awarded.

The aim of the scholarship is to support the studies of one successful Master’s level student of each curriculum of the Estonian Academy of Arts for one year. “Study and shine!” was created in autumn 2024 at the proposal of Sille Pihlak, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture.

The scholarships are funded by the Faculty of Architecture’s Development Fund. The scholarship for a student of one curriculum is €1000. The scholarships will be awarded for the first time in 2024. 18 postgraduate students applied: 5 in Interior Architecture, 5 in Urban Studies and 8 in Architecture and Urban Planning. A scholarship committee composed of the Dean and the heads of the curriculum decided on the 2024 “Study and Shine!” scholarships (á 1000 €) as follows:

● Patrick Liik, a Master’s student in Architecture and Urban Design, who is a proactive architectural student committed to learning and research. He has distinguished himself with his high-level studio work since his 1st year and has started his own studio in the field of design and communication.
Promising and intriguing – thereby inspiring all his peers in an almost unnoticed way.

● Linda-Maria Urke, a Master of Interior Design student whose thesis deals with mental health issues. Her research is thoughtful, cross-disciplinary and free of stereotypes. Knowing that prevention is the most important aspect of the subject, Linda-Maria contributes to a broader context in which students can study and shine.

● Annika Ülejõe, a Master’s student in Urban Studies, is always up to the challenge. Annika’s Master’s thesis deals with unravelling the phenomenon of the Italian 1-euro houses from the perspective of economic and historical inequalities. Her research provides a critical view of the socio-economic consequences of urban regeneration, which is at once both original and relevant. His work and commitment are a great example to others.
