The Student Award 2020 of the Estonian Association of Architects was awarded to Madli Kaljuste, a master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urban design of EKA for the “Designers’ House” (Rävala 8, Tallinn).
The winner of the student prize fascinated the jury with a successful choice of topics – one of the most central modernist buildings in the city center has become a social outcast. The work deals with the concepts of heritage, obsolescence and change, and its language is not formal, but comparable to a poem, the understanding of which depends on the mood of the recipient.
The EAA Student Prize is awarded for the second year “to pay attention to young, freshly prepeared colleagues and to recognize the best of them for their commitment, diligence and good social nerve in their chosen exciting and responsible profession”.
The award is supported by the architects’ offices belonging to the association, this year tänavu JVR, KOKO and molumba. .The winner was selected by a jury (P. Pere, M. Lõoke and K. Nigols) from among the candidates nominated by EKA, Taltech and TKTK. The award was announced on December 9 at the ceremonial Architecture Awards 2020 ceremony at Kultuurikatel.
Congatulations!
