In this course, we dealt with the abandoned landscapes of Suurpea Military Village and Pärispea Institute. While the latter is waiting for new use in all its glory. Some of Suurpea’s multi-story buildings are in use. However, a school building, a culture house, a library, water towers and a still insane number of capital buildings are waiting for a good idea. How to activate exciting unused buildings to create a breath of fresh air?
Initially, the interdisciplinary workshop “Abandoned Landscapes” of EKA students of architecture, interior architecture, heritage protection & conservation and engineering students from Taltech, was looking for solutions to the questions that arose during one week.
This workshop became a further semester project of the studio, which mostly drew the students’ attention to the Pärispea Institute and the potentials of this place.
