The City Council Scholarship (Raestipendium) is aimed at supporting and recognising successful master’s and doctoral students in their research and studies, with a focus on topics related to the activities of the city as a local government. The research should have practical relevance in terms of organising city life and contribute to addressing specific challenges faced by the City of Tallinn.
On November 27, scholarships were ceremoniously awarded at the Poska House in Tallinn for outstanding research work to 16 master’s and doctoral students from Tallinn University, Tallinn University of Technology (Taltech), Estonian Business School, Estonian Academy of Arts and the University of Tartu.
In the EKA Architecture and Urban Design department, the Raestipendiums were awarded this year to master’s students Markus Vernik with the work “How to reduce the carbon footprint with planning” (supervisors Martin and Ingmar Melioranski) and Simon Eiland with the work “The next phase of the Mustamäe residential area: a garden city” (supervisors Andres Alver, Andres Ojari and Douglas Gordon).
In the field of interior architecture, the scholarship was awarded to master’s students Anna Aurelia Minev and Mari Uibo.
The scholarship amount is 2000 euros for master’s students and 3000 euros for doctoral students, funded by the City of Tallinn.
