Double Lives: Art and Pop Music
What made Andy Warhol want to work with The Velvet Underground, in the music business? Why did Yoko Ono turn to pop music, and John Lennon, vice versa, to visual art? How important are utopias of synthesis between art and music for Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson or Fatima Al Qadiri? Leading double lives between art and pop music could be read as an attempt to deal with problems faced in one world by shifting to another.
Jörg Heiser’s ‘s lecture in Tallinn is the last one of an open lecture series organized by Estonian Academy of Arts Art History department in collaboration with CCA, Estonia. The lecturers were Jan Verwoert, Beatrice von Bismarck, Joanna Figiel, Orit Gat, Dorothea von Hantelmann and Jörg Heiser. Lecture series was supported by Estonian Cultural Endowment and Estonian Ministry of Culture.
