During the workshop we carry out a pedestrian movement study in the center of Tallinn.
Students are given a task of tracking pedestrian movement using smart phones and GPS. These tracks and the observations from the field-work help students to conceive a pedestrian movement simulations.
Students are introduced to a programming tool (Netlogo) in order to investigate dynamic modelling. We look into creating models to simulate goal-oriented movement swarming and stigmergy. Students then choose an behaviour that they observed in the city and try to get the digital model to behave similarly.
