Unfinished City
Estonian Academy of Arts Faculty of Architecture alongside Kapitel have joined forces on a research program entitled The Unfinished City. Invited researchers and specialists alongside faculty members, researcher fellows and doctoral students will look into the spatial scenarios and visions for future urban developments exemplified on Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The research project is accompanied by workshops, lectures and public presentations. The final conclusions are drawn in a public exhibition in Estonian Museum of Architecture in the beginning of 2021, alongside the final conference and a book on the research.
The research focuses on six major topics throughout six academic semesters:
1. semester – Planning practices
2. semester – Lasnamäe modernist district
3. semester – Green and Blue networks
6. semester – Tallinn 2050
The project ended with the exhibition “City Unfinished. Urban Visions” at the Estonian Architecture Museum from January 22 to May 23, 2021, in which the findings of the research project were presented.
In 2021, a voluminous book City Unfinished. Urban Visions of Tallinn summarizing the conclusions was also published.
The TV programs based on the material of the Unfinished City were broadcast on ETV from 25.08 to 6.10. 2022. The TV shows can be watched on the ETV website and the Jupiter website.
