On 16 December at 17.00 EKA Gallery will open a new exhibition, “Infinite mind caged in practical possibilities” by Laivi. Previously Laivi has focused on intimacy between clothing and its wearer, this time, however, she will be exhibiting works based on her conceptual search towards decreasing the distance between textile and clothing. Working with Jaquard loom, Laivi looks for ways to weave clothing into textile, so to say. Her work also references the mythical quest for the seamless shirt and her own fantasies on the conceptual meaning of clothing in contemporary world.
Laivi is an artist and designer working with emotional and intellectual qualities projected onto clothing. She is currently finishing her post-graduate degree in fashion at Aalto University, Helsinki.
