On March 1, at the Young Sculptor Award Exhibition, which opened in the ARS Project Space, the winner of the 2023 award, Mara Kirchberg, was announced with the work Milking Almost A Gallon.
The second place was awarded to Kail Timusk and the third place to Sophia Hallmann.
Eha Kommissarov, Art Allmägi, Tiina Määrmann, Kaarin Kivirähk and Evy Jokhova, in the composition of the jury of the award exhibition, highlighted its conceptual comprehensiveness and outstanding realization of the winning work of contemporary art master student Mara Kirchberg of the Estonian Academy of Arts. Also her willingness to experiment and deal with environmental and ecological issues and the potential of further working with the idea at the Vaskjala Residency.
Artists Josefine Green, Sophia Hallmann, Mara Kirchberg, Lisethe Maas, Rose Magee, Eke Ao Nettan, Sarah Noonan, Paula Oberndorfer, Didi van der Putte, Kertu-Liisa Sarap, Asmus Soodla, Sonja Sutt, Kail Timusk and Mattias Veller will participate in the exhibition.
The Young Sculptor Prize, which has been awarded since 2012, and the accompanying exhibition aim to highlight and recognize the professional activities of young artists engaged in sculpture and installation. Hanna Piksarv, Sten Saarits, Anna Mari Liivrand, Johannes Valdma, Rosa Violetta Grötsch, Johannes Luik, Siim Elmers, Sarah Nõmm and Junny Yeung have received the Young Sculptor Award in the past.
The Young Sculptor Award Exhibition is open until March 17, every day from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the ARS art campus, at Pärnu mnt 154.
