On September 24, an international exhibition “Cultivating Design in performing Arts” opens at the fancy China National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing. Estonia is represented by the Estonian Academy of Arts’ scenography professor Lilja Blumenfeld’s design for the play “Drunk” (playwright Ivan Voropajev, producer/director Lembit Peterson at Theatrum). The play was awarded in 2015 by the Estonian Theatre Union and Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
The exhibition will entail models and sketches of the scenes from 11 different countries in Europe, including: France, Italy, Sweden, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Russia, Finland and Estonia. The exhibition is organized by University of the Arts London and will remain open at the egg-shaped dome of NCPA until October 24, 2015.
Professor Lilja Blumenfeld is planning to open an international master level program in scenography at the EAA in Autumn 2016, with admissions in Spring 2015.
