A collaboration between three art universities, culminating in a performance in the Semper Depot hall in Vienna.
The collaboration between three art universities, the Estonian Academy of Arts, the Vienna Academy of Arts and the Royal Antwerp Academy of Arts, which began one and a half years ago, deals with the translation of methodological wardrobe research into scenographic language. Lecturers Ene-Liis Semper, Piret Puppart and Anita Kremm from the Estonian Academy of Arts are present. The participants are EKA’s Scenography and Fashion Design students.
The project takes a closer look at wardrobes located in three different locations in Europe, highlighting their differences and similarities as well as those who wear them. A total of 24 students spent half a year analyzing the deeper functional and emotional dimensions of the clothes of various people, from close family members to welcome acquaintances they met on the street, who were ready to open their closets.It is also important to look at the age diversity of the people being studied, which varies from a few-month-old baby to a retired senior citizen. Based on specific methodological guidelines and predetermined observation practices, the participants translate the collected physical, visual and emotional data into performative action, primarily maintaining a sincere and respectful attitude towards the people who trusted them.
The process culminates with a performance at Semper Depot in the heart of Vienna this Saturday, October 19, at 8:00 p.m. Entrance is free of charge.
