Lecturer Oliver Reed
International drawing course in English by Oliver Reed from University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Over a series of four evening activities, we will work both in the studio and at local sites to investigate different approaches to drawing, developing our ideas and concepts through image-making. Each theme and approach may then act as a catalyst for you to develop your own work beyond the course.
Participant Prerequisites
Secondary education and min. B2 level of English language and basic knowledge and understanding of drawing.

Study Outcomes
Upon completing the course, the participant can:
- demonstrate a range of imaginative and inventive approaches to exploring and developing visual ideas and concepts through various drawing materials and techniques
- investigate concepts of perceptual awareness through drawing approaches and image-making
- employ personal references to incorporate, inform and inspire original artwork
- employ a range of practical methods to gather visual and sensory information from the city to develop a personal response
- develop a contextual awareness for artists approaches to drawing
Assessment Criteria
The course ends with an assessment, which requires at least 75% participation in contact classes. The assessment will consist of mutual feedback based on the participant’s contribution and experience during the course. After completing the written feedback, the person who passed the assessment will be issued a certificate of continuing education from the Estonian Academy of Arts.
About the Lecturer
Oliver Reed is an artist, lecturer and the Head of Arts within the Centre of Open Learning, University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He has been a practising artist for over 30 years, exhibiting both nationally and internationally whilst been a lecturer of Art for over 25 years. Oliver has had Arts residences at the Cleveland Institute of Art, Ohio and at IPark in Connecticut, USA.
Oliver’s work relates to the natural environment, focusing on space, time, memory and ecology, moving from one point of focus to another, with each body of work shifting its focus and employing various processes and approaches.

Credits: 1 ECTS, 16 academic hours of contact learning, and 10 academic hours of independent work
