EKA arhitektuuriteaduskonna avatud loengute sari
Christiana Ioannou ja Christos Papastergiou, Draftworks (Kreeka/Küpros)

*draftworks* asutati Christiana Ioannou ja Christos Papastergiou poolt 2006.
aastal Londonis ning täna tegutseb büroo Nicosias ja Ateenas. Büroo nimi
tuleneb sõnast ‘draft’ ehk ‘visand’, mis tähendab justkui loomeprotsessis ette
tulevat esmast katsetust, aga ka joonistamise üllast tegevust. *draftworks*
arhitektid on võitnud mitmeid auhindu nii kohalikel kui rahvusvahelistel
võistlustel, nende seas esikoha Aliki keskkonnahariduse keskuse võistlusel
Larnaca soolajärve ääres Küprosel. Võidutöö, mille valisid žüriiliikmetena
teiste seas välja Herman Hertzberger ja William Mitchell, on sealtpeale
pälvinud tunnustust ja tööd esitleti Küprose ekspositsioonil 2008. aasta XI
Veneetsia arhitektuuribiennaalil.
Arhitektuuriteaduskonna loengusarja raames on Tallinnas esinenud mitmed
maailmakuulsad arhitektid, teoreetikud, kriitikud ja urbanistid, et tutvustada
arhitektuuri, disaini, linnaehituse ning kriitilise mõtte värskeid vaatenurki.
Loengud on mõeldud nii arhitektuurivaldkonna tudengitele ja erialaga seotud
professionaalidele, kui ka ruumikultuuri huviliste laiemale ringile. Loengud on
inglise keeles ning tasuta.

17.10 Christiana Ioannou and Christos Papastergiou, Draftworks (Greece/Cyprus)
*draftworks*
architects was founded in London in 2006 by Christiana Ioannou and Christos
Papastergiou and currently operates in Nicosia and Athens. The studio borrows
its name from the word draft*, which means both the first attempt* of a creative
process and the noble task of drawing*. The studio has been awarded
prizes in various local and international competitions. Among them the
1st prize and the commission to build the Aliki ‘Centre for
Environmental Education’ at the salt lake at Larnaca, Cyprus. Their
project ‘New Zidonians’, selected by Herman Hertzberger
and William Mitchell among others, has been awarded an Honorable Mention at the
MIT ‘Just Jerusalem competition’ and the project ‘Paper Machines II
and the Roofless Garden’ selected by Peter Cook has been exhibited at the
11th Venice Biennale in 2008 as part of the Cyprus Pavilion.
Quite a few well-known architects, theoreticians, critics and urbanists
have given talks at this lecture series, to offer fresh perspectives on
architecture, design, urban development and critical thought from around the
globe.
The lectures are open to all students and professionals in the fields of
architecture, urbanism and other spatial studies, as well as to the broader
circle of those interested in the future of our living environment. The
lectures are in English and they are free of charge.
